US Tax Refunds

For P and O Visa Holders

The P Visa is a non-immigrant visa allowing foreigners who are internationally recognised as athletes, artists or entertainers to work temporarily in the US. The spouse and unmarried children of a P Visa holder may also visit the US for the duration of his/her stay. Read an example of a P Visa tax refund for athletes, artists and entertainers here.

The O Visa allows individuals with extraordinary abilities in science, arts, education, business or athletics at the national or international level to work in the US. O Visas can also be granted to essential supporters, spouses and unmarried children of the O Visa holder. Read an example of an O Visa tax refund here.

P and O Visa holders pay federal and state tax on their earnings and are required by law to file a US tax return if they earned more than $3500 in 2008 or $3650 in 2009. (Click here to see the thresholds for previous years). Failure to do so can lead to difficulties with future visa applications to the US.
